PHYSICAL WORK ADDRESS: State Parks Region 2 Office, 715 HWY 35 S, Rockport, TX 78382

GENERAL DESCRIPTION Under the direction of the Regional Maintenance Specialist, this position performs advanced (senior‑level) construction, restoration, renovation, and maintenance work. Responsibilities include providing assistance to Region 2 State Parks, conducting complex work in several skilled construction trades such as carpentry, roofing, concrete, masonry, electrical, plumbing and welding, performing material specification/estimation, supervising and training individuals in a specific trade, assisting with special park‑based projects and events, performing facility inspections and safety audits, and complying with agency rules and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education Graduation from High School or GED.

Experience Four years experience in building and equipment maintenance such as carpentry, roofing, masonry, painting, electrical, plumbing or welding.

Licensure Must possess a valid class “A” Texas Commercial driver’s license or be able to obtain a class “C” Texas driver’s license within 30 days of employment and convert to a class “A” within 12 months. Must pass the air brake component of a class “A” Commercial driver’s license standard examination. Retention of position is contingent upon maintaining required licenses and compliance with DOT drug and alcohol testing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education Training related to designated building trades and/or areas of expertise. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent, supplemented by vocational training in a designated trade.

Experience Experience in construction, maintenance, and repair work.

Licensure Certification associated with designated building trade(s) training. A current valid class “A” Commercial Texas driver’s license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of conventional and historic building techniques, materials, equipment, and tools; advanced plumbing, carpentry, electrical, masonry, mechanical maintenance, and repair tasks; OSH and state safety regulations; state purchasing procedures; basic mathematics; use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook; equipment and electronic maintenance; selection of appropriate tools and troubleshooting; effective verbal and written communication; use of hand and power tools; planning, assignment and supervision of work; quality customer service; effective work relationships; independent, sound decision making; teamwork; project management of multi‑discipline programming; training others; reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications; organizing preventive maintenance programs; applying proper maintenance techniques; interpreting drawings and blueprints; effective communication; maintaining records; estimating labor and material costs; preparing purchase lists; providing guidance; working independently; purchasing supplies; maintaining flexibility with changing priorities; manual labor up to 50 lbs; adherence to TPWD safety program.

WORKING CONDITIONS Required to work 40 hours per week, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with days off other than Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Perform work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather. Share housing with crewmembers. Work overtime as necessary. Travel 75 % with possible overnight stays. Use appropriate safety procedures. Perform manual labor up to 50 lbs. Operate a State vehicle. Pass drug screening before employment. Pass drug testing for CDL positions within the past two years. Subject to random post‑incident testing. Conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures. Non‑smoking environment in State vehicles and buildings.
