Responsibilities
Perform maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, inspection, and/or overhaul of combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment.
Troubleshoot, perform maintenance, and major repairs on heavy‑duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical, and automotive vehicles.
Diagnose mechanical failures by visual and auditory checks and/or use test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges, and diagnostic tools.
Remove, disassemble engines and major assemblies, sub‑assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems.
Independently perform repairs and maintenance functions in remote locations by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts such as injectors, leaking wheel cylinders, corroded mufflers, fuel tanks, brake cylinders, worn brake shoes, voltage regulators, generators, injector pumps, and fuel pumps.
Conduct readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity.

Qualifications
Permanent appointment, Group 1 or 2 tenure, Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 4:30 pm FLSA exempt.
Must possess experience or training to perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks and use common tools and equipment.
Specialized experience WG‑08: basic mechanical repair, inspection, and adjustment; ability to replace, fit, and install parts and systems; knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory.
Specialized experience WG‑10: thorough knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic systems; ability to diagnose, repair, and overhaul complex vehicles and equipment.
Valid driver’s license.
Must be a current U.S. military member, prior service member, or eligible applicant willing to join the Wyoming Army National Guard before appointment.
Security clearance Secret.
Military grade: E1–E8 (state), E1–E7 (out‑of‑state); over‑grade applicants must provide a written demotion statement if selected.
Military enlistment incentives waived for this excepted service position.
Must maintain qualification status; background investigation required.
Supported by promotion potential 10 and security clearance, but not eligible for veteran’s preference for this excepted service position.
