The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II will perform licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, and diagnostics in a mobile/field environment. They may perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs under supervision and continue to develop additional mechanical and diagnostic skills. A successful Diesel Technician II complies with company policies and achieves high performance metrics. Duties

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment (Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Engine electronics, Diesel steering, Engines, Transmissions, Clutches, Differentials, etc.). Diagnose, adjust, and repair electrical, brake, cooling, engine electronics, air conditioning, steering, transmissions, and related systems. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments (handheld computers, pressure gauges). Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and verify proper operation. Manage parts inventory and equipment on the service truck; perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the service vehicle; conduct safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections. Communicate with clients to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, or meet expectations. Manage concurrent tasks with effective prioritization. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Document work according to company standards and upload RO findings/photos using company-issued iOS devices and TRAIT application. Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion. Work independently and manage daily schedule; maintain productivity within standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary for repairs. Communicate with management to obtain approvals on repair estimates and RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT). Requirements

High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of certification/education in a related discipline; or 5 years of related experience. Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months. Must be able to pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment. DOT medical card valid with more than four months remaining may substitute for a DOT physical; if four months or less remain, a DOT physical is required. Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority regulations; valid driver’s license is required and a Driver Qualification File must be maintained. Preferred Certifications

ASE T3 (Drivetrain), T4 (Brakes), T5 (Suspension), T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems), T7 (HVAC), and T8/PMI as applicable; ASE 608/609 certification is noted. Skills & Abilities

Ability to understand the implications of new information for problem-solving and decision-making. Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy labor. Strong communication skills; able to convey information clearly and engage in two-way communication. Ability to determine needed tools and equipment; assess distances and select appropriate approaches. Use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternatives and solve problems. Benefits
