Job Summary EMCOR Services Aircond is hiring a Controls Technician to install, program, maintain, and troubleshoot building automation and energy management systems for commercial and industrial clients across the Southeast. The role blends project installation and ongoing service, ensuring a diverse workday.
Responsibilities
Install, program, integrate, and repair building management systems (BMS) on project sites, working closely with project managers.
Lead or assist in the commissioning of new building automation systems.
Execute retrofit projects, replacing old control systems with non‑proprietary solutions.
Perform routine and complex service calls to diagnose and repair BMS issues.
Conduct planned maintenance activities on a scheduled basis.
Maintain and repair low‑voltage wiring, equipment, and devices.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex controls, network, field device, and integrated system issues.
Load programs in field controllers and run BACnet MS/TP and BACnet IP communication networks.
Support third‑party equipment integrations.
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with customers and company employees.
Inform sales and management of qualified leads for new construction, service, maintenance, and retrofit opportunities.
Efficiently manage time and productivity by planning, scheduling, and communicating all work assignments.
Complete all required company documentation and reporting in a timely manner.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in building automation or HVAC controls industry.
Valid driver’s license required.
Tridium AX or N4 Certification highly preferred but not required.
Strong understanding of commercial/industrial HVAC fundamentals, mechanical equipment (CHW, HW, AHU, VAV, CV‑PKG), and controls systems.
Working knowledge of BACnet systems and experience with Distech Controls, Tridium Niagara, and Schneider Electric controls.
Proficiency in electrical fundamentals and using a digital multi‑meter.
Ability to read and understand control and mechanical drawings.
Excellent rapport‑building skills to foster a positive experience for customers and colleagues.
High sense of urgency, keen attention to detail, and a collaborative, team‑oriented nature.
Proven problem‑solving skills and the ability to think critically in high‑pressure situations.
Proficiency in interpreting HVAC mechanical plans and specifications as they relate to Direct Digital Controls.
