position with a $4,000 hiring incentive.
Location AUTO SHOP 2225 S. 22ND AVENUE, PHOENIX, AZ 85009
Salary Pay range: $44,034 – $54,034 per year Anticipated salary: $49,034.12

Job Summary The Equipment Repair Technician conducts diagnostics, inspections, and mechanical repairs of electrical, electronic, and hydraulic systems on a wide variety of automotive and construction equipment. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, record keeping, and travel to job sites.
Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel internal combustion engines.
Diagnose operational, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical malfunctions.
Inspect equipment per safety and scheduled preventive maintenance checklists.
Perform preventive maintenance on engines, electrical, hydraulic systems, tractors, welding machines, paint stripers, paint pumps, rollers, trenchers, and weed sprayers.
Operate vehicles and equipment requiring a driver’s license, road‑test repaired gear, and maintain daily records.
Fabricate and modify equipment; drive shop truck to job sites.
Qualifications
Minimum three years of journey‑level experience diagnosing and repairing light or construction equipment.
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master Certification in Automobile and Light Truck is preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
Power/drive train inspection, diagnosis, and repair.
Electrical system inspection, diagnosis, and repair.
Electronic control system inspection, diagnosis, and repair.
Computerized diagnostic analyzer use.
Hydraulic system inspection, diagnosis, and repair.
Operating principles of gasoline and diesel internal combustion engines.
Fleet maintenance shop safety principles and practices.
Record‑keeping principles and practices.
Skills
Repairing and maintaining mechanical, electrical, electronic, and automotive/heavy construction equipment.
Operating computerized diagnostic analyzer equipment.
Estimating time and cost of repair maintenance work.
Scheduling and coordinating service to maximize utilization.
Abilities
Follow oral and written instructions.
Interpret repair manuals, service bulletins, and recall bulletins.
Utilize PC programs such as Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Manage time effectively.
Lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull 90 lbs; pass a physical exam.
Selective Preference(s) Must have three years of journey‑level experience diagnosing and repairing a variety of light or construction equipment. ASE Master Certification is preferred.
Pre-Employment Requirements
EPA Section 609 Certification or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
Current, valid driver’s license with current, unexpired, and active status.
Pass all required driver training and record checks.
Maintain required liability insurance if driving a personally owned vehicle on state business.
All newly hired State employees must complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E‑Verify).
