Overview
Position Details:
Job Title: Electrician 1 Location: Buchanan Dam, Texas 78609 Duration: 12 months contract (with possibility of extension or FTE) Pay Range: $20/hr - $25/hr. on W2
Job Description General Overview:
At an entry level assists with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in diverse settings, including commercial office spaces, substations, plants, telecom sites, dams, and parks. Assists with the wiring of structures, fixtures, and equipment, while adhering to safety protocols and regulatory standards. Learns how to troubleshoot electrical circuitry and equipment, interpret blueprints and schematics, and the utilization of specialized tools required in the electrical industry.
Assists peers with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, circuits, fixtures, and equipment in commercial and industrial settings.
Reads and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and schematics to determine the layout and configuration of electrical systems.
Assists in the troubleshooting of electrical issues and repairs or replacements, to restore functionality and safety.
Assists with testing electrical systems and components using specialized tools and equipment to verify proper operation and safety.
Maintains accurate records of work performed, including maintenance schedules, service reports, and inventory levels.
Works with other trades on construction and renovation projects to coordinate electrical installations and ensure timely completion.
Addresses client inquiries, concerns, and service requests.

Minimum Qualifications
Zero or more years of experience as an electrician
Valid driver's license for incumbents with transportation responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
Apprentice level electrician's license or higher.
One year of relevant work experience in electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs.
Basic knowledge of electrical systems, components, and wiring methods.
Basic understanding of electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of electrical circuit theory
Knowledge of National Electrical Code
Knowledge of uninterruptable power systems (UPS) which provide a reliable backup power source
Knowledge of the analysis of electrical and electronic control systems
Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC's) for monitoring and extracting data
Skill in the use of electrical test equipment
Skill in basic mechanical repair techniques
Skill in troubleshooting
Skill in communicating effectively with team members and supervision/management under normal and emergency conditions
Skill in articulating complex, technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Skill in reading, interpreting and understanding all types of electrical schematic diagrams and blueprints
Skill in properly using tools and following assigned area protocols and procedures
Ability to remain alert and attentive to job requirements and co-workers
Ability to make critical decisions under high stress conditions
Ability to stop all work upon violation of safety procedures or when unsafe working conditions occur
Ability to balance competing and high priority work demands
Ability to work in a team environment
Work Environment
Work hours are spent in an office environment, plant, equipment room or outdoor environment.
Work involves weekends, holidays, and non-standard hours.
Works at heights up to 50 feet.
Exposure to varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions 50% of the time.
Exposure to noise levels up to 85 decibels 20% of the time.
Traveling and lodging out of town as necessary 20% of the time.
Exposure to rotating equipment 20% of the time.
Works in close proximity to energized low and high-voltage electrical equipment 40% of the time.
Exposure to natural hazards such as fire ants, snakes, wasps and other stinging insects and other wildlife.
Physical Demands
Frequent finger/hand manipulation in using hand tools, operating equipment, and using a keyboard and mouse.
Frequent climbing, crawling, squatting, or kneeling to perform job duties.
Frequent lifting up to 80 pounds from the floor to the waist.
Occasionally pushes or pulls up to 100 pounds.
Frequently performs work at chest level or higher, including overhead full arm extension holding up to 50 pounds.
Climbing ladders and/or scaffolding 20% of the time.
Confined space entry less than 10% of the time.
