Overview

The selected candidate for the position must have a minimum of three years' experience in building trades and the ability to read schematic and engineering prints. The candidate must also have knowledge and skill in the following areas: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, masonry and painting. Experience in rotating equipment and mechanical repair is a plus. EPA universal certification, R410A Technician certification a plus. The selected candidate must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs in weight and working in confined spaces. The candidate must be able to work at high elevations and in outdoor weather conditions. The selected candidate must also be able to perform extensive walking, standing, lifting and bending and must be medically qualified to wear a respirator. A valid driver\'s license is required. Candidate who obtains this position must qualify and advance through career path training to Mechanic A. If you accept a job offer in association with this posting, you may be assigned to any location within the CECONY regions. You must have a HS Diploma or GED.

Core Responsibilities

Candidate must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds in weight and work in confined spaces

Candidate must be able to work at elevations in outdoor weather

Candidate will be required to perform extensive walking, standing, lifting and bending

Candidate must have a valid drivers license

Candidate must be medically qualified to wear a respirator

Candidate must become proficient with use of work management system Maximo for time reporting and work order tracking

Perform general maintenance of buildings

Operates minor hand and power tools and performs general maintenance of such

Performs basic lighting and wiring tasks

Performs snow/ice removal with manual and powered snow/ice removal equipment and performs general maintenance on such

Performs basic plumbing and pipe fitting tasks

Performs basic carpentry tasks

Performs basic troubleshooting on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems

General understanding of the basics of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical diagrams, blueprints, maps and schematics

Performs basic PC based functions to access, retrieve, enter and or verify job related information

Candidate engages in tasks supporting the operation and maintenance of company facilities including but not limited to warehouses, garages, office spaces, production environments, and associated outdoor spaces

Candidate works constructively and collaboratively in a team environment supporting a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment

Candidate executes work in a safe and efficient manner consistent with the organizations drive for operational excellence

Required Education/Experience

High School Diploma/GED

Relevant Work Experience

3-5 years Experience in building trades and ability to read schematics and engineering prints. Required

3-5 years Electrical & Mechanical experience Required

Less than 2 years Experience using electronic work management platforms such as Maximo for time entry and updates to work orders. Preferred

Physical Demands

Ability to respond to system emergencies

Able to work in all weather conditions

Perform extended driving through heavy traffic and severe off-road conditions

Perform heavy manual labor, i.e. push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs

Ability to carry tools and materials when climbing ladders and scaffolds, and entering confined spaces

Ability to work in adverse conditions that include, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations

Ability to climb ladders and stairs

Ability to work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, catwalks, roofs, and/or other equipment

Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions

Ability to work with, and in, the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems

Ability to be approved to wear and use respirator

Stand, walk, and climb ladders and stairs for the duration of the workday

Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday

Ability to use hand tools and operate heavy machinery, e.g. jackhammers

Unload materials from delivery vehicles and deliver equipment to various operating facilities

Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies

Use hand-eye coordination to adjust controls on equipment

Wear necessary PPE and safety equipment

Work with equipment with a manufacturer weight rating of 350lbs

Use equipment with a maximum weight rating of 375lbs when wearing and/or carrying 25lbs of clothing and equipment

Additional Physical Demands

The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment and may be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
