Civil Stormwater Engineer

We’re looking for a Civil Stormwater Engineer to support roadway and site development drainage design tasks for infrastructure projects, from initial planning through design and into construction. Projects typically involve roadway and highway design for local governments, state DOTs, toll authorities, and private clients.
Responsibilities
Complete roadway and site development drainage related design tasks for infrastructure projects. Support project teams from initial planning through design and into construction.
Prepare Phase 1 storm water management studies, including Location Drainage Studies and conceptual drainage studies for roadway improvements.
Design permanent and temporary drainage (open and closed systems) on roadway projects.
Provide hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, storm water detention/retention design, erosion/sediment control plans, and coordinate storm water facility designs with other disciplines.
Follow design standards to define proposed improvements in CAD. Provide storm sewer design, utility coordination and permit development, and prepare quantity calculations, cost estimates, exhibits, and special provisions for Phase II plan and contract development.
Technical writing, construction observation; familiarity with green infrastructure research and design preferred but not required.
What We’re Looking For / Qualifications Skills
Experience with StormCAD, MicroStation, AutoCAD Civil 3D, PowerGeopak (OpenRoads SS4), and ArcGIS software is a plus.
Experience with storm sewer, culvert, and detention/retention basin design software is strongly desired.
Ability to collaborate with technical staff and work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to present complex technical concepts to engineers, project managers, clients, and public stakeholders.
Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external client bases.
Strong oral communication and technical writing skills.
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field
3-5+ years of stormwater related experience
EIT or professional Engineer license (IL) or ability to reciprocate from another state
Familiarity with Illinois Tollway and IDOT roadway and drainage design standards is a plus.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $115,000
