Job Summary The Sterile Processing Technician II is a certified technician whose responsibilities include decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, storing, and distributing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment according to established standards and guidelines. The SP Tech II demonstrates personal and professional effectiveness when working in an indirect patient care department and addressing requests of the customer or provider.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Central Service Technology Course or equivalent work experience (at least one year in central sterile processing)
Hold one of the following certifications or obtain within one year of hire: CRCST, CSPDT, CBSPD or CRM
One year of central sterile processing experience required
Special Requirements
Communication Skills: Above average verbal (heavy public contact), bilingual skills preferred, writing reports (legible handwriting and coherent writing)
Other Skills: Medical terminology knowledge, critical thinking, multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment, ability to lead projects, monitor and interpret results of gauges and research surgical instrument and supply companies, PC skills appropriate to job requirements
Work Schedule: Weekends, holidays, flexible, on call
Equipment Operated: Sterilization equipment, decontamination equipment, computer/printer, elevator system, scope disinfector, heat sealer, incubators, barcode scanners, software, temperature monitors, equipment gauges, visual screen monitors, digital camera, inter‑department paging system
