Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Pediatric – Special Kids Murfreesboro, TN

We are a Christ‑focused practice dedicated to helping children from birth to 21 years old. We offer full‑time or part‑time opportunities for qualified speech‑language pathologists who are licensed and trained, and who share our mission of serving families with a God‑centered perspective.

Overview SLPs at Special Kids provide speech and language therapy services for children with various communication disorders, developmental delays, and medical fragility. Services include assessment, treatment planning, implementation of AAC devices, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and evaluate speech and language skills and provide treatment for diverse disorders.

Program and instruct on the use of AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) devices.

Coordinate participation in multi‑sensory, educational, functional, and social activities.

Select constructive activities to maximize patient independence.

Prepare patients for school and daily living, assisting with functional adjustments.

Instruct patients and families in treatment procedures for maximum carry‑over.

Maintain accurate and timely patient reports and documentation in electronic medical records.

Review individual files for background data and determine appropriate tests.

Administer, score, and interpret evaluation reports to develop and modify treatment plans.

Assess performance and modify goals, observe patients and compile data on progress.

Maintain high patient care productivity.

Enforce patient attendance policy.

Serve as consultant to educational, medical, and professional groups.

Collaborate with other disciplines to incorporate speech and language goals into daily activities.

Research and implement new therapy techniques.

Refer patients for additional services as warranted.

Attend meetings, conferences, and participate in professional growth activities.

Requirements Education & Experience:

Master’s degree in communication disorders or Speech‑Language Pathology and relevant experience.

Licenses & Certifications:

Active Tennessee State SLP license, ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC), American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) with CPR, ASHA membership preferred, HIPAA certification encouraged.

Computer Skills:

Basic proficiency and ability to learn electronic medical record systems.
