Maintenance Supervisor - 2nd Shift at Zekelman Industries
Reporting to the Department Manager, this hands-on Maintenance Supervisor will oversee the maintenance team. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all plant equipment, coordinating preventive maintenance programs, troubleshooting machinery issues, and leading a team of skilled maintenance technicians.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor maintenance technicians to ensure efficient daily operations. Equipment Maintenance: Oversee and participate in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining plant machinery, including mills, welders, cutting systems, and material handling equipment. Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and improve equipment longevity. Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and regulatory compliance, ensuring OSHA and company policies are followed. Downtime Reduction: Quickly respond to equipment breakdowns and production disruptions, coordinating emergency repairs when needed. Parts & Inventory Management: Monitor spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement of necessary components. Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in maintenance processes. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and compliance reports. Collaboration: Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure seamless operations and support continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in steel manufacturing or heavy industry. Leadership: 2+ years of supervisory experience leading a maintenance team. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Welding and fabrication experience is a plus. Education: Associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, or a related field. Equivalent work experience considered. Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues and implement effective solutions. Computer Skills: Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and Microsoft Office. Safety Focused: Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and industrial safety best practices.
