Overview A
Construction Utilities Foreman
oversees and manages crews installing and maintaining underground utilities like water, sewer, and storm lines, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on time. Responsibilities include pipe-laying, trenching, and operating heavy equipment, as well as supervising workers, coordinating with other teams, and maintaining safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision and Leadership
Leading a crew of utility workers, assigning tasks, and ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently
Project Management
Planning daily work schedules, coordinating with project managers and other teams, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget
Technical Expertise
Proficient in the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground utilities, including water, sewer, and storm systems
Safety Management
Enforcing safety regulations, conducting daily job site inspections, and ensuring a safe working environment for the crew
Equipment Operation
Operating various types of heavy equipment, such as trenchers, backhoes, and other machinery used in utility construction
Record Keeping
Maintaining accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent by the crew
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience Significant experience in construction, particularly in utility work, is essential
Leadership Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage and motivate a team
Technical Knowledge Problem solve and resolve issues that may arise during construction
Excellent time management and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Safety Certifications May require certifications such as OSHA 30 or other safety training certifications
