Service Technician - Class III - V Location:

Atlanta office serving west Atlanta Georgia territory.

Summary:

Install, service, and repair heating, ventilating, air conditioning systems and related environmental control systems. Utilize knowledge of heating and refrigeration theory, and pipefitting.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Class 3 Service Technician: Knowledge of 5‑100 ton unitary DX equipment, chilled water air handlers, CRAC, pneumatic and DDC controls.

Demonstrate advanced troubleshooting on 100 ton and less unitary DX equipment.

Capable of all repairs needed on rooftop package equipment.

Perform basic troubleshooting on air‑cooled chillers, troubleshoot and repair water‑cooled package equipment.

Diagnose problems using electrical schematics, refrigerant system issues, basic understanding of variable frequency drives, diagnose issues with VAVs/PIUs.

Class 4 Service Technician: All Class 3 skills plus ability to troubleshoot and repair all types of air‑cooled chillers, pumps, low‑pressure boilers, advanced troubleshooting, understanding of DDC controls, maintain and repair cooling towers, diagnose water flow issues, proficient with variable frequency drives and starters, low‑pressure boilers.

Class 5 Service Technician: All Class 3 and 4 skills plus understanding of water‑cooled chillers, chilled water systems, large chiller rebuilds, rigging, large boilers, pumps, assist with technical support to other technicians; troubleshoot and repair large water‑cooled chillers, diagnose large boilers, advanced diagnosis of air distribution systems, chilled water system distribution, troubleshoot and repair/rebuild large pumps, superior system knowledge and advanced troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Working knowledge of computer and tablets.

Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to work well in a team environment.

Strong adaptability skills.

Required Experience, Certifications, and Education

High school diploma or GED required.

Trade/Technical School certification or degree preferred.

Four to five years plus of commercial/industrial HVAC experience including exposure to control, compound and reciprocating systems as well as refrigerants; experience level is based on technician classifications described above.

Valid Driver’s License.

EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification.

Physical Requirements Must be able to climb ladders, lift and carry 50 or more pounds, distinguish colors for electrical work and tolerate confined spaces. Work will involve heights and seasonal temperature extremes. Proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required while performing tasks.
