Senior CNC Machinist – 2nd Shift (2:15 pm – 10:45 pm) with shift differential
Join Parker Hannifin as a Sr CNC Machinist on the 2nd shift. This role sets up and operates various conventional and/or numerically controlled (CNC) machining centers on difficult jobs, primarily using Okuma multi-axis lathes, Okuma mills, and HAAS 5-axis mills. The position works from blueprints, sketches, planning sheets, verbal instructions, and/or engineering information. Contributes to lean initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs. Works independently with minimum guidance in a team environment. Responsibilities
Run multiple machines efficiently, adapting tooling to accomplish results requiring broad knowledge of production machining technology and shop techniques. Set up, adjust, and operate conventional and/or special purpose machines for complex operations with close tolerances and varied dimensional relationships. Interpret customer requirements from blueprints, drawings, specifications, quality directives, charts, tables, sketches, and verbal instructions. Interface with engineering to resolve drawing errors, suggest design changes, and solve product/process problems. Implement manufacturing methods using standard machines, materials, and tooling; advise and assist with tooling design as needed. Perform complex setups, including multiple workpiece stations and custom holding devices. Develop and define processes with limited documentation; troubleshoot and resolve machining problems. Machining and inspection of parts to maintain high quality and efficiency; use precision measuring instruments and, if required, a CMM; ensure equipment calibration aligns with schedule. Maintain equipment cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability per division requirements; perform statistical process control (SPC) in accordance with division needs. Apply advanced shop mathematics and knowledge of metal characteristics; actively contribute to lean initiatives and process improvements. Mentor less experienced team members and coordinate workload priorities based on business demand. Qualifications
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required. Five or more years of directly related CNC machining experience in a high-technology manufacturing environment. Experience with Okuma multi-axis lathes, Okuma mills, and HAAS 5-axis mills is preferred. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to manage multiple tasks with changing priorities to meet customer needs. May require specialized certification specific to division requirements (e.g., certified operator). Read, understand, and follow blueprints, complex drawings, and engineering specifications; interpret informal instructions. Capable of precision machine set-ups and a solid understanding of machining principles; experience machining shaped forgings preferred. Strong working knowledge of advanced shop mathematics (including trigonometry) and lean principles. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to work effectively in a team and mentor others. Familiarity with job-specific software and self-service systems; ability to use automated systems (e.g., PMR, TORS, e-mail). Typical Mental and Physical Demands
Ability to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods; manual dexterity to operate machinery; close vision required. Regular attendance and ability to lift up to 50 lbs may be required. Benefits and Other Information
