St. Peter Catholic Church, in the Brookside neighborhood of Kansas City, is seeking an Early Childhood Aide. The Aide will work with teachers and students to foster positive learning and address educational needs. The ideal applicant is fulfilled by working with children and making a difference as part of a team. This position is full time and reports to the principal.
Essential Duties
Implement activities planned by the classroom teacher or inclusive education coordinator.
Bridge communication between the classroom teacher and the student’s parents.
Based on the child’s SEP (Student Education Plan) and teacher directives, implement modified curriculum activities to meet individual learning goals.
Work with students individually, following him/her through the daily schedule.
Provide for student's social and emotional needs through respite activities and “brain breaks.”
Advocate for the student with the inclusive education coordinator when the student’s program is not meeting her/his needs.
Maintain records of all activities planned and completed.
Assist students with snacks and lunch as needed.
Attend and participate in professional learning activities as assigned.
Complete other assigned tasks.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Patience, flexibility, and positive attitude
Ability to use a variety of classroom technology
Strong communication skills
Qualifications
High school diploma
Some post‑secondary education preferred
