(travel required to Norwell, Norwood, and Weymouth – mileage reimbursed)

Pay:

$35/hour

(commensurate with experience)

Position Summary The Licensed Optician plays a key role in our optical department by assisting patients with frame selection, lens education, and optical measurements, while maintaining compliance with professional and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills, a caring and personable approach, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced setting.

Key Responsibilities

Interpret prescriptions and advise patients on suitable frames, lenses, and coatings based on visual needs and lifestyle.

Accurately measure patients and ensure proper frame fit and optical alignment.

Educate patients on eyewear care, lens options, and contact lens use.

Prepare and verify orders for eyeglasses and contact lenses for accuracy and quality.

Manage inventory, frame board organization, and product displays.

Verify vision insurance eligibility and benefits for eyewear and contact lenses.

Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and optical staff to ensure a smooth patient experience.

Maintain knowledge of current eyewear trends and optical technology.

Qualifications Required

High school diploma or equivalent.

Active Massachusetts State Licensure as an Optician.

2+ years of optical dispensing and/or medical billing experience.

Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.

Strong sales, customer service, and communication skills.

Detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving abilities.

Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast‑paced environment.

Reliable transportation for travel between office locations.

Preferred

Previous retail or optical sales experience.

Bilingual skills in Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Spanish, or Portuguese are a plus.

Schedule

Monday & Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Tuesday–Thursday: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Saturday (Rotation – Quincy): 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
