Cardiology Nurse Practitioner
Location: Houston, TX
Salary: $150,000.00-$200,000.00
Summary This position provides advanced care to patients in clinical (outpatient) and hospital (inpatient) settings in a heart failure, LVAD, and heart transplant area under the direction of the physicians of the Heart Failure, LVAD, and Heart Transplant Team. The role is performed only at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in collaboration with cardiology physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing team, coordinators, and patients, in a manner that is effective, professional, and friendly.
Job Duties
Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations.
Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures in accordance with relevant health concerns of the patient.
Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.
Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patient charts to document status, treatments, and procedures.
Monitor and ensure accuracy of recording on patient medical records.
Provide follow-up health maintenance care to patients in accordance with protocols established with the supervising physician.
Communicate with physicians, patients, and their family members concerning patient care.
Collaborate with providers and practice staff in identifying appropriate patients for care management.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education Required: Master’s degree in Nursing.
Experience Required: Clinical experience in specialized care of an adult population.
Certification/Licenses/Registration: Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing. Current Texas licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN‑NP), and specialty certification as required by department. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
