Early Career Plumbing Engineer – New York, NY
WSP is hiring an Early Career Plumbing Engineer to support local technical assistance for the design, development, testing, and inspection of plumbing systems on infrastructure and building projects in the public and private sector.
Responsibilities
Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the job site, surveys, blueprints, and technical drawings to support project development and construction.
Conduct basic professional plumbing engineering work, including research and inspections of site conditions, equipment, and building infrastructure.
Install plumbing, fire protection, and fluid flow systems in compliance with applicable rules and standards.
Perform routine engineering functions and provide entry‑level technical assistance on design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies.
Generate accurate documentation and specifications using electronic systems and field site logs.
Comply with safety guidelines and site‑specific procedures.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
0 to 1 years of relevant post‑education experience.
Excellent research skills and analytical mindset.
Familiarity with design/build concepts and plumbing system laws, codes, and compliance practices.
Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with engineering and non‑engineering audiences.
Self‑leadership, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
Basic technical writing, office automation, and software skills.
Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD or Revit.
Track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol policies.
Ability to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical work week and occasional travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
Engineer in Training certification.
Prior internship related to the degree of study and specific engineering discipline.
Active participation in local professional practice organizations.

Compensation Expected Salary: $58,200 – $96,030 (all locations).
