Construction Project Manager

located at the Bay City Factory, 2600 S. Euclid Ave., Bay City, MI 48706.

Job Summary The Construction Manager will lead construction projects from planning through execution, including new construction, process and equipment upgrades, and infrastructure improvements. They will collaborate with project engineers and site operations to define scope, develop budgets, create schedules, prepare bid packages, and select contractors. The role requires ensuring quality and accuracy over the complete project lifecycle.

Primary Responsibilities

Oversee, manage, and direct construction projects across production and support facilities from start to finish.

Communicate effectively with all stakeholders to provide technical support.

Collaborate with subcontractors, engineers, architects, and key team members.

Work closely with plant operations, maintenance, engineering, and controls teams to align with plant needs.

Coordinate with safety, environmental, food safety, and controls services.

Manage projects through civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation specifications.

Support development of bid packages and obtain quotes for site preparation, equipment purchases, and installation.

Manage safety, regulatory, and quality compliance, and obtain permits and licenses as required.

Track order deliveries and installation progress with subcontractors and approve progress payments.

Review project deliverables (budget, schedule, planning) and report status updates.

Provide equipment training and startup support to operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel.

Position Qualifications

5+ years of industrial plant construction management experience, preferably in food.

Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field (preferred).

Alternative: 10+ years of progressive engineering and management experience in manufacturing.

Proficiency with AutoCAD, drawings, PFDs, P&IDs, and related documentation.

Knowledge of plant process equipment such as piping, boilers, turbines, pumps, heat exchangers, evaporators, centrifuges, tanks, filters, air compressors, and water treatment systems.

Experience with bulk material handling equipment (belt conveyors, screw conveyors, bucket elevators, mixers, screeners, bins, scales, packaging, and explosion protection equipment).

Key Competencies

Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, and project management software (MS Project, Procore, Primavera).

Strong understanding of industrial construction methods, safety compliance, and regulatory codes.

Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, union leadership, and external vendors.
