Maintains a safe and functional electrical, and mechanical, instrumentation system at water treatment plants, deep wells, wastewater treatment plants and pump stations. Equipment includes control panels, VFDs, switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, MCCs, automatic transfer switches, turbo blowers, compressors, UPSs, motors, motor starters, breakers, surge arrestors, harmonic and power factor correction equipment, power supplies, lighting systems, batteries, relays, fuses, and disconnects.
Installs, programs, and maintains all process control instruments/control devices (e.g. pressure, flow, level, chlorine, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, chlorine/ammonia/H2S leak detectors, total suspended solids, PH, turbidity, chemical feed pumps, weight scales, refrigerated samplers, transmitters, and control valves). Utilizes Hart communicators to diagnose, troubleshoot, and calibrate instruments and instrument systems. Utilizes loop signal calibrators to troubleshoot and calibrate 4-20 mA signal loops. Installs, maintains, and programs all variable frequency drives (VFDs). Performs predictive maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems by utilizing thermal imaging and vibration analysis equipment. Provides emergency power for all electrical systems of Commission properties, maintains emergency generators and installs emergency generator hook‑up when necessary. Installs/maintains HVAC systems, installs/maintains all lighting for Commission facilities and troubleshoots electrical failures. Maintains electrical and pumping systems for dispensing stations at water treatment plants. Designs and installs wastewater pump station control panel upgrades. Installs electrical conduit. Pulls and terminates wiring (both power and control). Installs and maintains gate entry systems for Plants and Operations Centers. Assists in the installation and troubleshooting of telemetry and SCADA systems. Maintains UPS and electrical system for the Operations Center. Creates and resolves work orders in the Maximo database describing work completed, manpower utilized, materials, equipment and establishes follow‑up work orders as needed. Communicates with supervisors, employees, other departments, customers, engineers, inspectors, contractors, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, and resolve problems. Maintains tools, equipment and vehicles in optimal condition. Assists Water Operations with necessary maintenance on their water production and pumping facilities. Assists Wastewater Maintenance with pumps, motors, etc. Serves ‘on call’ for emergency response (as needed). Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements Position requires a high school diploma or GED; supplemented by vocational/technical training with an emphasis in electrical maintenance and repair and one (1) to two (2) years previous experience and/or training that includes troubleshooting and repairing electrical control circuits, frequency drives, and sizing motors, wires, and breakers; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver’s License. Must possess or obtain a Journeyman Electrician License within 2 years of employment. Position also requires a strong mechanical/technical aptitude to effectively perform complex troubleshooting to determine appropriate repairs and to complete appropriate repairs. Computer skills are required that allow basic understanding of internet research for parts manuals and breakdowns, Microsoft Outlook, Maximo, SCADA, payroll software and GIS mapping. Skilled in oral, written and electronic communication with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the public. Basic PLC and VFD knowledge are also required. With basic aptitude and ability to learn, willing to train electrical knowledge, skills and abilities needed for this position.
