Summary of Job Lays out, assembles, installs all areas of residential and commercial HVAC installations including any ductwork, setting, and starting up split and package systems. Gas piping, venting and electrical as well.
Realistic Job Preview
You will start early. The majority of our installations have a 7 AM onsite start time. Most installs will finish the same day. Most days may have you home for dinner; some days may be earlier, and some days may be later depending on the install. Average hours are 40-50 per week, reaching 50-60 per week in the busy seasons. We don't work scheduled weekends or on-call, but we are committed to serving our customers deeply throughout the work week.
You will have an apprentice assigned to the majority of the work you perform. As a lead, you will be required to plan and supervise the work of any apprentice assigned to you.
You will be responsible for the work and on-the-job training of the apprentice(s) assigned to you.
You will install various types of residential and commercial HVAC equipment.
Residential changeouts/remodels - 95%
Commercial changeouts - 5% (but growing)
Residential installs include package units, heat pumps, split systems, mini-splits, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, geothermal, air filtration, duct cleanings, and occasional boiler work
Commercial installs include RTUs, split systems, mini-splits, water-sourced units, air filtration, humidifiers, and dehumidifiers
Ductwork - partial, full, and full-cut duct jobs, either as part of an equipment install or as a duct-only job
Attics and crawl spaces present; attics may be hot and crawl spaces cramped
Stay in communication with the Project Manager who sold the job, updating on potential issues, concerns, or improvements to the install
Attend scheduled 1:1 meetings with your manager
Work with field managers who may join on-site to assist or train
As a lead, manage on-site customer communications and act as an ambassador for all Hoffmann Brothers products and services, including IAQ, plumbing, and electrical services
Document and detail the work performed in Service Titan with notes, pictures, and videos
Be the gatekeeper for installation standards and ensure premium install quality
During slower periods, perform maintenance visits for members and may assist with service or recalls; opportunities to learn water heater installation or gas line work
Requirements
3+ years of technical experience in the HVAC field; some previous experience as a Lead Installer required
Valid driver's license
Universal EPA Certification
Safety-focused with general knowledge of safe working practices and applicable federal/state OSHA requirements
Physical Demands To adequately perform the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, use hands to finger, handle controls; hear, and talk. The employee frequently must reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to climb ladders, work in hot and cold environments, and work in small crawl spaces. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 80 lbs and up. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment can vary by season; employees may work outdoors and encounter interruptions and changing priorities. Effective, consistent, and constant communication with customers, vendors, co-workers, and others is required.
