We are seeking an experienced
Union Pipelayer
to join our
Utility Pipe Crew
in our highway heavy construction operations. The ideal candidate will have at least
3 years of experience
installing underground utilities, including storm sewer, water, and sanitary sewer systems. This position requires expertise in pipe installation, trench safety, grading, and working efficiently as part of a crew in fast-paced, high-production environments. Key Responsibilities
Install various types of underground utility pipes (storm sewer, water, and sanitary sewer) according to project specifications and blueprints. Excavate, grade, and prepare trenches while ensuring proper slope and alignment. Set, align, and seal pipes using appropriate materials and techniques. Work safely around heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, and trench boxes. Check slopes, elevations, and pipe grades using lasers, levels, and measuring tools. Follow OSHA and company safety guidelines to maintain a safe job site. Collaborate with foremen, operators, and laborers to ensure efficient installation and workflow. Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment used for pipe laying. Assist in backfilling, compacting, and restoring work areas as required. Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience as a pipelayer in utility or highway heavy construction. Strong understanding of pipe materials, bedding, and installation methods. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, grades, and specifications. Experience with setting trench boxes, shoring, and other safety measures. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks. Must be a union member in good standing or willing to join as per company and union requirements. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. OSHA 10 or 30 certification (preferred but not required).
