Mobile Diesel and Trailer Technician Level II .

The Mobile Diesel and Trailer Technician Level II The Mobile Diesel and Trailer Technician II will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, light and follow‑up repairs, diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The candidate will learn advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques under the supervision of a senior technician while achieving high performance metrics.

DUTIES:

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.

Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment: electrical, brake, cooling, starters, alternators, fans, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines (gas & diesel), transmissions (manual & automatic), clutches, differentials.

Diagnose, adjust, and repair equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, HVAC systems, fog lights, and more.

Inspect, test, and use hand tools and instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges to diagnose malfunctions.

Road test vehicles to verify proper operation.

Identify problems, determine relevant information, and generate alternatives using sound judgment.

Manage parts inventory and perform periodic reconciliation on company‑issued service truck.

Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, including safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.

Communicate effectively with clients to assess needs and provide assistance.

Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage daily schedule independently.

Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, and lifting jacks.

Document and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) using the TRAIT application.

Complete DOT and other documentation in a timely manner.

Work independently while maintaining high productivity and adhering to standard repair times.

Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary.

Communicate with management and support team via email or phone for repair estimates and RO notes.

Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations.

Maintain company‑issued service truck and perform daily safety checks and inspections.

REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of experience in a related field (5 years acceptable).

Possess necessary hand tools.

Obtain ASE certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.

Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.

Provide a current DOT medical card with at least 4 months remaining or obtain a DOT physical.

Be at least 21 years old.

Hold a valid state driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File.

USD 26.06 - 39.13 per hour

Compensation: Hourly base pay rate is $26.06 - $39.13/hour. The rate may vary depending on location and the candidate’s skills. Position may be eligible for additional compensation such as commission and incentive programs.

Employees receive a minimum of 6.67 hours of paid time off each month and seven paid holidays per year. Additional leave includes bereavement, voting, jury duty, volunteer time, military, and parental leave.
