Fire Sprinkler Designer
Western States Fire Protection (WSFP) is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Designer to design, coordinate, and project manage fire sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. The designer will create detailed drawings using AutoCAD, AutoSprink, HydraCAD, or similar software. Responsibilities include initial project planning, scheduling, material stock listing, analyzing changes, and solving problems. Project management includes overseeing scheduling, planning, construction, expediting, inspection, quality control, and delivery of projects according to established criteria. The role involves tracking costs, profits, and financial measures, and coordinating with site superintendents to manage labor, materials, equipment, utilities, and time. This position is located in Idaho Falls, ID. Candidates outside the area must be willing to relocate. Job Responsibilities Review construction contract documents and coordinate with sub-contractors and General Contractor/owner to gather information to design the project’s sprinkler system Determine construction feasibility and system possibilities using analytical thinking Create detailed drawings using AutoCAD, AutoSprink, HydraCAD, or other approved software Create stock lists for all materials required Perform hydraulic calculations Develop initial schedules for preliminary project work Maintain design historical records for future use Develop positive relationships with customers to ensure expectations are met Coordinate with other departments to ensure proper handover of project information Monitor and manage projects to comply with safety, quality, productivity, and profitability requirements Directly manage field labor for assigned projects to ensure productivity Track employee hours and crew mix rates Ensure proper staffing on each project Identify changes impacting cost, schedule, or labor Complete change orders/change estimates in a timely manner Monitor project billings for accuracy and positive cash flow Monitor progress and ensure schedule and budget compliance Assist or lead during field check stages Forecast future manpower requirements Oversee subcontractors and ensure work complies with codes and permits Administer construction contracts and approve work quality and payment requests Report progress and necessary modifications to owner and general contractor Job Qualifications NICET certification required, either “In Training” or NICET Level I–IV Experience with AutoCAD, AutoSprink, HydraCAD, or other fire sprinkler layout software Proven ability to complete work in a timely manner and meet deadlines Three years of construction industry experience with knowledge of the Fire Protection industry Three years of experience in commercial, industrial, and residential design Detail-oriented and able to coordinate with others Excellent written and verbal communication skills Must be able to pass a post-offer drug test, background, and reference check Relocation to Idaho Falls, ID is required if not already located in the area.
