Mobile Diesel Technician Level II . The Mobile Diesel Technician II will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light and follow-up repairs, and various diagnostics under supervision, continuing to learn advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques. A successful Diesel Technician II complies with all company policies and achieves high performance metrics. Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment including electrical, braking, cooling, starter/alternator, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentials, and related systems. Diagnose, adjust, and repair electrical, braking, cooling, air conditioning systems, engine electronics, steering, engines, transmissions, and other components. Inspect, test, and diagnose defective equipment using test instruments (handheld computers, pressure gauges) and road test vehicles to verify repairs. Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate/assess alternatives with sound judgment. Independently manage parts inventory and operate the company-issued service truck, including safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections. Communicate with clients and the support team to assess needs, provide information, resolve issues, and meet expectations. Manage concurrent tasks, prioritize work, and allocate time effectively. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Document work according to company standards, upload photos of work, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using an iOS device and TRAIT application; complete DOT and other required forms promptly. Work with a high degree of independence and manage daily schedules; maintain productivity within standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed for repairs. Coordinate with management for repair estimates,PO numbers, and RO findings notes. Comply with safety, health, environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT). Maintain the service truck and perform safety checks and daily pre-/post-trip inspections. Requirements
High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of related experience; or a related degree/certification; or 5 years of related experience. Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform duties. Obtain ASE certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months. Must be able to complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment. DOT medical card valid with more than four months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical; if four months or less remain, a DOT physical is required. Minimum age of 21 due to interstate commerce regulations; valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File. Safe driving record and ability to obtain/maintain necessary credentials. Required Certifications or Obtained Within 18 Months: ASE T8 (PMI). Preferred Certifications
