The Florida Department of Corrections Facilities Management and Building Construction aims to provide a safe, secure, and efficient environment for staff, inmates, and visitors by managing, maintaining, and constructing correctional facilities in compliance with regulatory standards to support public safety and rehabilitation. This is not a telework position and requires reporting to the FDC office in the area it serves.
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical infrastructure, electrical systems, and electrical devices including but not limited to power, lighting, control, locking control, motors, and related components used in the facility’s operation.
Performs preventive maintenance and repairs for all electrical systems, ensuring proper function.
Conducts tests, maintains logs, and keeps records for equipment per Department guidelines.
Installs, alters, repairs, or replaces electrical infrastructure, lighting systems, motors, motor starters, transformers, and circuit breaker panels up to 600 volts.
Follows local, state, and federal codes, tool safety, and security procedures; plans and organizes work and requisitions necessary parts.
Prepares reports, supervises inmates, records progress, participates in departmental training, and performs other related duties as required.
