Overview Dr. Ayako Makino’s laboratory is seeking a Laboratory Technician I to join our translational research team, specializing in cardiovascular pathophysiology and vascular cell biology. The major tasks include maintaining mouse colonies and assessing cardiac and vascular functions using echocardiography and/or a Millar catheter.
Responsibilities
Maintain mouse colonies by conducting weekly checks, cleaning cages, weaning litter, mating, and tailing for genotyping.
Perform basic molecular biology experiments, including PCR for genotyping.
Conduct animal experiments such as chemical administration and assessment of cardiac and vascular functions via echocardiography or Millar catheter.
Coordinate with investigators for lab research, including maintaining equipment, reagents, and research records.
Acquire and analyze data.
Required Qualifications
Associate's degree in an appropriate area; or a high school diploma or equivalent with two years of related experience.
College coursework or technical training may substitute for required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Over 18 years old at hire date.
Demonstrated mouse colony maintenance skills.
Skills in chemical administration and cardiac/vascular function assessment.
Precise record keeping.
Knowledge of PCR, qPCR, WB, and aseptic techniques for cell culture.
Data analysis and troubleshooting.
Time management.
Teamwork and coordination.
Proficiency in GraphPad, EndNote, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Enthusiasm for learning and research.
Additional Information Expected Salary: $18.13 per hour.
