Position Summary
Dr. Wang’s lab uses in vivo mouse and in vitro cell models to investigate signaling networks underlying ocular tissue development and the mechanisms of ocular diseases. Specifically, we focus on two ocular structures, the lens and lacrimal gland. We use a combination of techniques including mouse genetics, imaging, cell/molecular biology techniques, and computational/bioinformatic analysis. We also conduct research with human eye specimens.
Job Description
Assists with technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Assist with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and setup and maintenance of equipment.
Perform data entry and maintain data files on research.
Prepare tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc.
Comply with established safety procedures and maintain required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
Ensure lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
Assist with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and provide standard care to research animals.
Education Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.
Preferred Qualifications
Up to one year of experience in a laboratory setting.
Highly motivated and passionate researcher.
Experience with mouse handling and/or cell culture.
Willing to learn and perform mouse-related work.
Grade R06-H
Salary Range $16.92 - $26.44 / Hourly
