CFTSS - SCO Family of Services
CFTSS (Children and Family Treatment and Support Services) offers opportunities to address behavioral health needs early in a child's or youth's life to prevent the development or worsening of behavioral health conditions. These services aim to equip youth and families with the necessary tools for success at home and in the community through goal-oriented supports and solution-focused interventions.
The CFTSS Provider role involves delivering various services to enhance the lives of at-risk youth. Services can be provided to the child, foster parents, birth parents, and other family members involved in the youth's life, within NYC and Long Island communities. Candidates may apply for multiple or all skills listed below if they meet the minimum qualifications. Applicants must have a valid Driver’s license with no recent major or multiple violations and possess good writing skills.
Each Provider can work up to 29 hours weekly.
Services include:
Community Psychiatric Supports and Treatment: Goal-directed supports and solution-focused interventions related to behavioral health.
Psychosocial Rehabilitation: Assisting youth with socialization and coping skills necessary for successful functioning and behavioral health rehabilitation in the home and community.
Other Licensed Practitioner (OLP): Licensed professionals who effectively engage children, youth, and families/caregivers who may find traditional clinic-based settings challenging.
Family Peer Support Service: Provided by Credentialed Family Peer Advocates to support families raising youth with mental health challenges, including resource location and building natural supports.
Youth Peer Support: Mentoring youth to develop positive peer and family relationships, sharing personal experiences and knowledge about supportive programs and resources.
Qualifications - External
Training and experience in providing direct services related to mental illness treatment.
Reliability, ability to work independently, and understanding of confidentiality and communication with the therapeutic team.
Clearance by the NYS Justice Center through fingerprinting for Criminal History Records.
Clearance by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services for child abuse and neglect checks.
At least 18 years old with a High School Diploma/GED or equivalent; BA degree preferred; strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experience working with seriously emotionally disturbed youth or relevant job/volunteer experience reflected on the resume.
Valid New York State Driver’s License.
Acceptable clearance checks for State Central Register, Driver License, and fingerprinting as required.
Screening for physical health and Mantoux testing.
