Pediatric Oncology Nurse II: PreOp/PACU RN

As a PreOp/PACU RN in the Nursing Surgical Services Operating Room, you’ll be part of a tight‑knit team of nurses and techs dedicated to ensuring seamless patient experiences in surgery, with a focus on pediatric oncology. Your responsibilities include monitoring patients before and after surgery, managing an 1:1 nurse‑to‑patient ratio, providing quality care, detecting and responding to emergent needs, educating patients and families, and collaborating with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals.
Position: 36 hours per week, rotating call with flexible schedule.
Requirements Minimum Education and/or Training
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred as applicable.
Minimum Experience
Minimum Requirement: BSN required with completion of 18 months of clinical nursing experience.
St. Jude or other RN experience required.
Intermediate pediatric assessment, critical thinking, and pain assessment skills.
Some experience in pediatric or oncology nursing.
Working knowledge of research protocols.
Strong knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age‑related needs of the patients served on the assigned unit.
Strong knowledge of the principles of growth and development for all ages served.
Strong ability to assess and interpret age specific data about the patient’s status.
Strong clinical nursing, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
Proven performance in earlier role.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law
(LC: RN‑TN) Must possess a current Tennessee State Board of Nursing license if primary residence is Tennessee or a Nurse Licensure non‑Compact state.
(LC: RN‑ARK or RN‑MISS) Must possess a current State Board of Nursing license in the state of primary residence if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only
Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON) preferred.
Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.
Compensation In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $31.50 - $55.00 per hour for the role of Pediatric Oncology Nurse II: PreOp/PACU RN.
