Summary:
The Journeyman Electrician plans, lays out , installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and controls equipment, as well as directing and training Electrician Helpers to do the same.
Essential Duties:
Electrical Safety – work safely around the hazards associated with electricity. Select the proper applications for different types of voltages (i.e. 24, 120,240,480,600,12,800 61kv Electrician Tools – use hand, electric, pneumatic and hydraulic tools in a safe manner. P&ID / Blue Print Reading – Correctly reads and understands plans, isometrics, arrangement drawings, details, specifications, erection manuals and/or blue prints and makes competent decisions based on measurable criteria. Working knowledge of National Electric Code and full understanding of NFPA 70e Have sound knowledge of, understand and use Lock-out tag-out procedures Identify conduit and hardware Measure, cut and thread conduit Pull cable and wire conduit Identify cable tray and hardware Fabricate and install hangars and brackets Mount junction boxes Figure, cut and install cable tray with offsets Perform cad weld grinding Figure offsets, bend and install conduit Identify types and sizes of wire, cable insulation and color code of multi-conductor Identify electrical meters and instruments Install ground lugs Install lugs on 4/0 and larger cable Read wire/cable schedules Other duties by trade and assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
Four (4) years minimum heavy industrial field experience as an Electrician. Maintain a current State Electrical license where required. Completion of welding certification(s) required by company and/or client. Must have locking toolbox and tools necessary to perform the job. Must be able to successfully complete all required pre-hire requirements.
Physical/Site Requirements:
Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 45 pounds. Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas. Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age. Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions. Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds. PPE footwear/prescription safety glasses or eye shields required.
