Class A Diesel Mechanic Technician

Compensation : $34.00 per hour or more depending on experience
Work Hours : Monday – Friday, 6:00 am – 2:30 pm (1st shift)

Position Purpose Responsible for diagnosing and repairing medium to heavy‑duty trucks, trailers, reefer units, converter dollies and maintenance vehicles under minimal supervision, ensuring compliance with all state and federal trucking regulations, and documenting all repairs and parts used.
Primary Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance on fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units) and identify/repair root causes of failures.
Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings and other critical components, replacing parts as necessary.
Verify that all equipment has required licensing and registration before it is deemed road‑worthy.
Document all repairs and preventative maintenance in the online Enterprise Asset Management system.
Install, replace, and repair onboard computers.
Use hand and power tools—including wrenches, pliers, pneumatic wrenches, and other precision instruments—for maintenance and repair tasks.
Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubricating equipment.
Train other employees as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
5–7 years of experience in medium to heavy‑duty vehicle repair, including preventive maintenance, tire & wheel service, air brake performance, diagnostics, electronic component repair, and a minimum of 2 years of A/C refrigeration experience.
