Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT Inspections and follow up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.

Perform minor adjustments and repairs on electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and more.

Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment; inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments; road test vehicles to verify repairs.

Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on a company-issued service truck; maintain and operate the service vehicle with safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.

Communicate with clients and management to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, and discuss repair estimates and RO findings.

Document work according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using company-issued iOS device and TRAIT application; complete DOT forms and other documentation timely.

Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors; obtain approvals on repair estimates as needed; manage daily schedule with a high degree of independence.

Work in compliance with safety, health and environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field, or equivalent combination; or 5 years’ experience in a related field.

Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties.

Obtain ASE certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.

DOT/FMCSA regulations compliance; able to pass pre-employment DOT screening and DOT physical; valid DOT medical card or ability to obtain one.

Must be at least 21 years old; valid driver’s license; able to maintain Driver Qualification File.

Certifications

ASE T8 (PMI) certification (required within 18 months).

Preferred: ASE T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, T8/608/609 as applicable.

Skills & Abilities

Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy labor.

Strong problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making; use logic to evaluate alternatives.

Effective communication; ability to work with clients and team members; prioritize tasks and manage time.

Proficient in selecting appropriate tools and equipment; ability to read and interpret instructions.
