Position Summary
The Pipe Layer is responsible for laying pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains. This position performs any combination of the following tasks: grade trenches or culverts, position pipe, or seal joints. They also install or use instruments such as lasers, grade rods, or transit levels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Cut pipes to required lengths
Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement, or glue
Cover pipes with earth or other materials
Install or repair sanitary or stormwater sewer structures or pipe systems
Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing
Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers
Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations
Knowledgeable in Blue Stake markings
Meet production goals from direction of the site Foreman or Superintendent
Perform other duties as required and assigned
Adhere to all DCS Contracting safety policies, procedures, and instructions from management
Qualifications
1+ year of construction pipe laying or laborer experience
General knowledgeable of OSHA standards and requirements
Able to work outside in all weather conditions
Willingness to learn and accept direction from field supervision
Team player and willing to help out wherever needed for the success of the project
Safety first mindset; MUST stop work if something is unsafe
Reliable transportation and flexible work schedule
Ability to get the job done with minimal supervision
Must be reliable and dependable
Must be able to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks
This is a safety‑sensitive position. Must be willing and able to drive within a 60+ mile radius from DCS's office to and from the assigned job site.
