Job Overview
Perform highly advanced (senior level) restoration, renovation, building maintenance and construction work in a designated skilled trade. Responsibilities include maintenance and repair of building systems, utility systems, and stationary equipment; maintaining records; processing paperwork related to work orders, projects, and material requisitions; and participating in disaster response or continuity of operations activation as required. Essential Job Functions
Work on a regular basis and may be asked to work specific shift schedules, rotating schedules, extended shifts, and overtime in accordance with agency leave policy. Perform inspections, adjustments, maintenance, and repair work on building systems, doors, locks, hardware, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, carpentry, painting, electrical, and associated components. Use hand tools and equipment while performing repairs or inspections; evaluate work and determine the best method for maintenance and repair. Design projects to conform to applicable codes and standards; select materials; establish work schedules; and supervise repairs or renovations. Ensure amenities and systems remain safe and operational; maintain training records and provide training to others as required. Accurately process paperwork and maintain records on work orders, projects, and material requisitions. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of building systems, electronics, boilers, painting, plastering, carpentry, plumbing, electrical fixtures, HVAC, sanitation, and refrigeration. Skill in the use of hand tools, power tools, and test equipment. Skill in preventive maintenance and inspections of buildings and building systems. Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, or sketches. Ability to organize preventive maintenance programs and supervise the work of others. Ability to work independently or with a team, solve problems, make decisions, and use good judgment. Ability to communicate effectively orally or in writing with other members of the maintenance and facility team. Qualifications
Minimum three (3) years of experience in construction, maintenance, or equipment/vehicle repair work such as electrical, plumbing, masonry, mechanical equipment, locksmithing, painting, motor vehicle maintenance, grounds keeping, HVAC, carpentry, welding, or electronic cabling. Valid Texas driver license (or obtain within 90 days of hire). Must pass fingerprints, background checks, and drug screen. Additional Information
Applicants must comply with HHSC immunization policy and may be required to work overtime or extended hours. All applicants must pass background checks and meet state eligibility requirements.
