Electrical Inspector - Pocono Pines, PA (EVG) at Bureau Veritas North America. We are seeking an immediate hire for an Electrical Inspector for our Pocono Pines, PA office. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Pennsylvania Business Unit Manager and perform daily inspections on residential and commercial construction projects and other assignments as directed. Travel will be required for inspections and/or managing projects in the assigned local area. Candidates must possess a professional demeanor, have both technical and industry experience, and be a team player. Responsibilities

Demonstrates excellent communication and customer service skills. Relays technical information and direction to owners, applicants, contractors and municipal clients and staff in a manner understandable to each audience. Responds to inquiries regarding compliance with electrical codes. Implements enforcement procedures to correct violations under the direction of the client jurisdiction. Works collaboratively with client jurisdictions and their inspection staff to coordinate processes, identify issues, and resolve conflicts to assure timely and clear city decisions. Interacts with client jurisdictions, developers, architects, engineers, and contractors regarding code compliance for proposed projects and projects under construction. Prepares written work products, such as correction notices or other correspondence outlining necessary corrections to assure code compliance for projects under construction. Performs technical inspections and/or reviews of plans for commercial and residential structures to verify conformance with electrical codes; resolves potential conflicts in code requirements for timely reviews. Participates in discussions concerning code interpretations and attends training to improve technical and interpersonal skills. Responds to inquiries from client jurisdictions, developers, architects, engineers, contractors, and the public regarding interpretations of codes, regulations, and processes. Maintains effective working relationships with city clients, staff, builders, designers, and the public. Analyzes complex issues and makes timely decisions. May perform plan reviews for residential and commercial plans for conformance with applicable codes while providing high levels of customer service. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Manager. Requirements

We will consider any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for this job. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Supplemental training in building inspection, structural engineering, or a related field is preferred. An Associate’s Degree in engineering, architecture, building inspection, or related field is desirable. Experience: Experience working as an Electrical Inspector is preferred. Must have a valid PA driver’s license. Certifications/Licenses: ICC Residential & Commercial Plans Examiner and/or Inspection certification in electrical; or Possession of the Journeyman Electrician Certificate and four years of experience as a journeyman electrician Must have knowledge of the PA Building Code and other regulations pertaining to construction and development. Ability to understand and interpret codes and evaluate project proposals and projects under construction to verify conformance with code requirements. Knowledge, Abilities & Skills

Strong knowledge of building and related municipal codes, building inspection methods and construction materials. Understanding of erosion and sedimentation control laws and Best Management Practices. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency with work-related technology (laptop, tablet, iPhone) and software such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to follow directions, ask clarifying questions, and work without direct supervision. Professional appearance, attitude, and conduct; able to work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Problem-solving skills and ability to establish and maintain relationships.
