Field Engineer I - Primoris Renewable Energy Primoris Renewable Energy is currently seeking Field Engineers for both immediate and 2025 starts. This site‑based position requires a daily operations manager for project sites under the supervision of a Trade Superintendent, Project Engineer, Project Manager, and Site Manager. The Field Engineer ensures and maintains cost, safety, schedule, and quality of the project while providing technical expertise for power‑generating construction projects, supporting engineering review, procurement, construction, and start‑up of high or medium voltage electrical systems. Responsibilities include installation guidance, QA/QC enforcement, scheduling support, and owner correspondence. The Field Engineer reviews and submits final Engineer As‑builts and project system packages (Job Books) to the owner, and assists Trade Superintendents with supervising craft personnel and subcontractors to achieve a safe, productive, and cost‑controlled construction operation.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Complete daily production and cost monitoring for major work items, preparing, reviewing, and sharing daily cost reports with supervisors for comparison and planning.

Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, vendors, and material suppliers, maintaining good working relationships with clients and other stakeholders.

Understand owner and subcontract contracts to validate, reconcile, and maintain accurate quantities for billing purposes, communicating differences to project management.

Manage project equipment and material transactions, monitoring inventory of equipment and materials.

Ensure a safe work environment by complying with company safety policies and federal/state regulations, overseeing on‑site Risk Management programs, and serving as Safety Representative when necessary.

Familiarize with project design documents, specifications, Quality Plan, and Inspection and Test Plan (ITP), operating in compliance with project Quality Plan, Work Methods, and Primoris processes.

Assist with project Quality management, including documentation for job books, coordination of alignment meetings, quality inspections, benchmarking, and assessments.

Participate in meetings, taking notes and generating monthly manager meeting documents and daily Plan of the Day documents.

Coordinate with Site Manager and Project Engineer to apply for and complete local permits, One‑Call tickets, and maintain related records.

Verify accuracy of Foreman and Subcontractor daily reports, including work codes, labor hours, equipment hours, and production reporting.

Interpret field information through frequent interactions with the field across all scopes of work.

Conduct project kick‑off and close‑out activities, including Estimating, final inventory, disconnect utilities, and contractual close‑out activities (job book, as‑builts).

Initiate RFIs and submittals following written processes, notifying Project Engineer for review and processing.

Assist with document control and field drawing audits to ensure latest revisions are used.

Support Trade Superintendents with work plan preparation, takeoffs, Material Request Forms, and pre‑construction checks.

Monitor purchased consumables to assure compliance with the submittal process and maintain crew and equipment matrixes.

Basic Qualifications

Four‑year degree in construction management, engineering or related field; or equivalent education and experience. Some construction experience is preferred.

Accounting (math and record‑keeping) proficiency.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, Outlook, Visio, Primavera).

Effective communication skills (oral, written, presentation, listening).

Effective motivational and supervisory skills.

Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks.

FE/FC to relocate to the project site for the duration of each construction project (average 6‑18 months).

Valid driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR).

Environmental Focus

Responsible for environmental compliance, ensuring all environmental procedures are met on the project.

Train and develop field representatives in environmental stewardship for the site/state‑specific project.

Familiarize with site‑specific conditions and requirements; conduct pre‑job reviews of plans, specifications, and county/state regulations.

Understand county, state, and federal regulations relevant to the project.

Collaborate with Site Manager to ensure all construction activities comply with mitigation requirements, permit conditions, and environmental specifications.

Track progress and coordinate with Primoris representatives and subcontractors to maximize environmental installation production while minimizing costs; identify alternative methods and evaluate costs.

Support PM, PE, SM in negotiating with owners regarding major environmental installation modifications or specification changes.

Assist PM and SM with change order, pay quantity, and estimation submissions, in coordination with client approval when necessary.

Monitor stormwater pollution prevention and erosion/sediment control plans, submitting daily or weekly reports to Site Manager.

Coordinate with owner’s environmental representative to resolve compliance issues before construction schedules or contract obligations are impacted.

Salary $77,000‑87,000, dependent on experience, qualifications, and competencies.
