Job Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic role requires basic knowledge of General Maintenance, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic, Electrical and Electronic Systems, and Welding (TIG, STICK). Mechanics must follow all safety and GMP’s for the facility at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Ensure all assigned daily PM’s are completed
Ensure production lines are in good mechanical order
Aid other teams (Production, Quality) when needed
Set up, visually inspect, test, and tear down machinery and equipment
Listen for unusual sounds from machines to detect malfunctions and discuss variants with supervisors to diagnose problems or repair machines
Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts
Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery
Repairs and maintains the physical structures of the establishment
Perform additional related duties as needed (not all inclusive)
Minimum Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older
High school diploma or GED
Ability to learn mechanical systems and food manufacturing processes
Team‑oriented with effective interaction at all levels and with contractors
Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift, scissor lift or other powered industrial trucks (PIT)
Understand and follow oral and written instructions
Ability to read and execute work orders, write daily reports, and translate equipment manuals
Read, write, and orally communicate in English; ability to work with little supervision
Flexibility to work overtime, weekends and holidays as scheduled
Preferred Qualifications
Metal fabrication skills
1+ years of related experience or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment; or 4 years of direct experience in similar maintenance environment
Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma or associate degree in technical maintenance (preferred)
Previous management experience in a meat slaughter facility
Bilingual in English/Spanish

Physical Demands The role may require occasional standing, walking or sitting; use of hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee may need to lift or move objects and must have appropriate vision.
Occasionally lift or move up to 70 pounds
Regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds using buddy system or lifting devices
Close, distance, and color vision are required
Frequent standing, walking, using hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and speaking/hearing

About the Company America's Heartland Packing is set to open its doors in early 2025. The 775,000 sq. ft. greenfield project will include a harvest floor, carcass chillers, fabrication area, rendering, further processing area, storage coolers, freezers, and loading docks.
