Job Title Maintenance Mechanic II (1st Shift)

Location New Hampshire Veterans Home, 139 Winter St, Tilton, NH 03276

Pay Range $17.81 - $23.39 per hour (based on skills and experience)

Schedule

7:00am - 3:30pm shifts

Varying weekends (additional $2.00/hour)

Varying holidays

Job Summary Perform skilled maintenance, installation, and repair work on state buildings, equipment, and grounds to maintain the operating condition of machinery and equipment at the New Hampshire Veterans Home.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance and maintain equipment including beds, lifts, tubs, air handlers, compressors, circulator pumps, DDC control systems, and other resident/staff equipment.

Perform skilled work in carpentry, masonry, electricity, painting, and/or plumbing in maintenance and repair of state buildings, grounds, and equipment.

Cleans, oils, greases, maintains and adjusts equipment, tools, and machinery to ensure consistent and safe operation.

Fabricate, weld, and/or braze parts for special equipment and replacement parts.

Exercise partial supervision over employees performing related maintenance work, scheduling assignments and reviewing work.

Perform snow removal duties: shoveling, plowing, salting, sanding, snow blowing, and roof removal.

Qualifications

Equivalent combination of 2 years of education and experience after high‑school completion.

Experience/education in general maintenance and repair work associated with carpentry, electricity, painting, plumbing, masonry, sheet metal, welding, auto repair, or related trades.

Valid driver’s license.

Must be willing and able to work holidays, weekends, and varying shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with diverse constituencies.

Ability to use personal computer and related software applications.
