We are currently recruiting for a position to support our US Government contract sustaining fielded V1 and V2 AN/TSC-198 systems of Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSAT’s) in our Duluth, Ga facility. The candidate would perform intermediate repair of system components, ensure mission capable status of spares/demo equipment, and support worldwide fielded units as required.
Roles & Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues related to SATCOM terminals
Demonstrate progressively increasing responsibility in installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of communications and electronics equipment in support of the VSAT terminals
Capability to distinguish between hardware and software problems in multi-vendor systems
Planning and performing installation, test, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair for communications and electronics equipment
Ensure operational status of spare units
Provide depot-level support to field personnel; work with world-wide field sites to troubleshoot and repair SATCOM systems
Perform assigned tasks in a professional manner and IAW established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Apply comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems
Read and interpret engineering drawings
Communicate technical information clearly both verbal and in writing
Document all work performed and maintain accurate records
Provide technical reports as necessary
Perform other duties as assigned.
CONUS and OCONUS travel possible
Minimum Qualifications
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
Active US Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance
Will consider certain candidates without a clearance if candidate is able to acquire one
High school diploma or equivalent
4-years military experience in related fields with advanced commercial certification instead of education can be used to substitute the high school diploma
Minimum three (3) years-experience with repairs or refurbishment of SATCOM or SATCOM related equipment.
Knowledge of SATCOM networks and terminals
Strong grasp of satellite communications operational theory
Highly Desired Qualifications
Mid-level RF technician with at least 5 years of experience
Ability to troubleshooting RF networks
Ability to use a Spectrum Analyzer
Full spectrum testing of HPA’s and LNB’s
Plotting and capturing test data
Ability to use a Power Meter, for bench testing output of HPA’s
Ability to use TDMA and FDMA modems
Experience with creating diagrams for signal flow, wiring and cabling
Ability to Build signal and RF cables
Soldering experience, cables and circuit boards
Component level troubleshooting and repair of electronic/communications items.
Familiarity with SATCOM components
Antenna Control Unit (ACU), satellite acquisition
SSPA/HPA, LNA/LNB - Low Noise
Fiber/Coax/Ethernet Cable Work
FDMA/TDMA modems (satellite modems)
Up-converters, down-converters
Ka & Ku-band Satellite Terminals
