Eaton’s ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Lead Development Engineer. This position is ONSITE Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm at our Fayetteville, NC Eaton location. Relocation assistance will be provided, if needed.
Job Overview The Lead Development Engineer supports ideation, refinement, optimization, validation, and industrialization of solutions for MCC (via UL845) and PFC (via UL508A) assemblies, including application consulting, scope definition, engineering design, test plan generation, and manufacturing process release.
What You’ll Do
Provide technical guidance to internal & external customers, including interpretation of manufacturing assembly processes, specifications, product selection, and application support.
Review technical and marketing requirements and prepare proposals relating to UL845 & UL508A limitations.
Generate ideation and design concepts to meet MCC and PFC needs.
Design includes preparation of 3D models using Autodesk Inventor for models/layouts, bills of material, and electrical schematics.
Work with cross‑functional teams to ensure production readiness.
Support a wide variety of product line sales, marketing, and technical initiatives including but not limited to:
Collect voice of customers and participate in product road mapping to maintain and extend product focus.
Support development of technical literature and training for internal customers and sales teams via marketing strategies.
Support cost‑out, design for manufacturing, and safety initiatives for assigned products.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field of study from an accredited institution.
3+ years of experience in electrical or mechanical engineering.
Fluency in a 3D CAD package (Autodesk Inventor/Pro‑E) with ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and one‑line diagrams.
Experience and exposure with the National Electric Code (NEC) and UL design standards such as UL845/UL508A.
Ability to relocate to Fayetteville, NC. Relocation assistance will be provided, if needed.
Ability to travel up to 15% domestically.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Product development and/or product line support experience.
Prior experience in manufacturing operations.
Prior experience designing UL845/UL508/508A and UL50 packaged control systems.
Familiarity with DFSS or DMAIC principles.
Prior product management experience.
Prior experience interacting with teams in a technical or commercial function.
Skills
Ensure compliance with systems, regulatory, and product standards including ISO, UL, CSA, NEC, OSHA, etc.
