Field Service Technician (NETA II, III, or IV Certified) Group CBS – Lakeland, FL (Full-time)

Salary: $58,240 – $72,800 per year.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm. Frequent travel is essential; work‑life balance program limits travel to no more than two consecutive weeks away from home.

Job Summary The Field Technician supports Acceptance and Maintenance Testing for projects and customers assigned. Responsibilities include testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical equipment, supervising trainees, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start‑up, and collect data on electrical systems.

Supervise trainees, assistants, and technicians in completing electrical testing duties.

Guide, mentor, train, and supervise Level 1 and 2 certified NETA trainees and assistant technicians.

Observe testing, assign work on projects to capable technicians, and ensure consistency across technicians.

Track project scope completion and communicate with ABM and Customer Management.

Maintain, test, repair, rebuild, and replace low, medium, and high‑voltage switchgear and circuit breakers.

Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches; test and inspect cable installations; maintain, test, and repair transformers and related equipment.

Test and calibrate solid‑state and electromechanical relays; perform relay calibration and power metering.

Conduct low‑ and medium‑voltage motor control center and contractor testing; start‑up, troubleshoot, and repair generator controls and transfer schemes.

Test and commission protection and control systems on high‑voltage substations; sample and interpret insulated fluids.

Complete Job Hazard Analyses (incl. arc‑flash and shock) and submit timecards, expense, and project reports.

Document test results and complete field reports; rotate emergency on‑call duty.

Maintain strict compliance with regulatory laws.

Assist in sales process as technical expert in electrical testing and maintenance.

Qualifications

3+ years of electrical testing experience preferred.

Experience with industrial safety processes and LOTO.

Electrical or construction background; Electrical Field Service Engineer (BSEE) degree is a plus.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and three‑line drawings.

Experience using test equipment (megger, hi‑pot, WRM, TTR, power‑factor test set, high‑current breaker test set, etc.).

Proficiency in LOTO and Job Hazard Analysis practices.

Strong client relationship skills; excellent professionalism and written/verbal communication.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

Knowledge & Skills Required

Strong electrical and mechanical skills; organizational skills and attention to detail.

Clear written and verbal communication.

Ability to write procedures logically; strong time‑management and multitasking ability.

Capable of working at fast pace and in a team environment.

Maintain confidentiality of information.

Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent GED certification required.

Physical Demands

Work in indoor and outdoor environments in all weather conditions.

Climb ladders, scaffold, and use man‑lifts occasionally.

Lift up to 75 lb occasionally; 50 lb frequently; 25 lb continuously.

Reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, frequent walking, and continuous standing with repetitive hand motion.
