Working on the Transportation team offers the opportunity to engage in transformative projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and improve community connectivity. Your focus will be on resilient, sustainable design and construction across highway, bridge, and traffic engineering. Responsibilities
Project Management
Plan and design transportation facilities such as freeways, arterials, intersections, railroads, and drainage; produce plans, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules. Oversee drafting and documentation of engineering reports, calculations, and technical deliverables. Attend meetings with clients and provide written and oral communications. Answer design and construction review questions and shop drawing reviews.
Oversee Team Members
Support and develop team members; schedule status meetings. Manage labor projections and resource allocation. Review and oversee project budgets; conduct QA/QC. Develop contingency plans, mentor successors, and provide leadership communication.
Employee Management
Foster a work environment that retains top talent, offers development opportunities, and promotes morale.
Financial Responsibilities
Deliver projects on-time and on-budget; monitor performance with Business Manager. Manage utilization and resolve issues.
Business Development
Build and maintain client relationships; participate in proposals and RFQs.
Coordination with Other Teams
Collaborate with Division Leaders to balance workloads across multiple teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Minimum of 15 years of professional roadway engineering experience. Experience leading a team. Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license in Nebraska or Iowa. Expertise in design and preparation of plan submittals for highways, arterials, intersections, local roadways, sites, bridge rehabilitation, traffic, and drainage for state DOTs and municipal agencies. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, AutoCAD, MicroStation/GeoPak, In Roads, Land Desktop, and Civil 3D. Preferred: Minimum of 10 years design experience and experience with NDOT and IA DOT design-build. Compensation
Salary range: $140,000 – $185,000, dependent on experience and location. Featured Benefits
