MAINTENANCE MECHANIC I - 2ND SHIFT (395)
Now Foods is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic I to work the 2nd shift. The role involves installing, operating, maintaining, repairing, lubricating, and troubleshooting complex processing and high‑speed packaging machinery as well as other equipment such as gear boxes, variable speed drives, pumps and compressors, dust‑collecting equipment, code daters, check weighers, etc.
Responsibilities
Install, operate, maintain, repair, lubricate, and troubleshoot complex processing and high‑speed packaging machinery and other equipment.
Perform predictive and preventative maintenance activities as outlined in the CMMS system.
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot all types of air‑conditioned and dry‑air electrical equipment.
Fabricate components using standard shop equipment (lathe, mill, drill press, brake, shear, band saw, and welding equipment).
Operate production equipment as part of troubleshooting and validate completed maintenance activity.
Assist Engineering in the installation of new equipment using drawings, verbal instructions, or sketches.
Collaborate with technical support, operations group, and peer mechanics to resolve machine or personnel issues.
Maintain spare parts inventory by checking out parts, using ordering procedures, and restocking.
Keep shop areas and parts room clean and orderly.
Participate in root‑cause analysis and continuous‑improvement initiatives; recommend and implement ideas.
Occasionally perform work in other areas such as building maintenance.
Comply with safety and cGMP requirements; follow lock‑out/tag‑out procedures and wear PPE as directed by Company Safety Policy.

Actively participates in the safety program, provides and receives constructive peer‑to‑peer feedback on safety performance, adheres to policies and procedures, reports all workplace incidents to supervisor immediately, communicates hazards, and uses PPE correctly.
Qualifications Education and/or Experience:
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent plus a minimum of two years of related experience, or a minimum of five years related experience.
Comprehensive knowledge of machine troubleshooting, electrical, mechanical, fabrication, pneumatics, hydraulics, OSHA standards, cGMPs, and lock‑out/tag‑out.
Food or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
Performance Ability:
Demonstrated strong working knowledge and ability to repair packaging and processing production equipment within one year of employment. Solid knowledge of machine capabilities, manufacturing process, and troubleshooting. Ability to train and mentor other employees. Consistently meet quality, safety and efficiency goals. Excellent problem‑solving, organizational, and planning skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment; independent thinker with sound decision‑making; initiative to complete tasks on time with minimal supervision; flexibility to change tasks frequently and work in different work centers. Ability to work other shifts, weekends, and travel to other facilities.
Physical Demands Regularly stand, move, use hands to handle, reach with arms (including overhead and ladder reach), ascend/descend stairs; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Lift or move items: step on/off ladders up to 24 inches; grasp up to 50 lbs of force; push or pull up to 42 lbs at 36 inches; lift up to 60 lbs up to waist; lift up to 60 lbs at 31 inches and carry for 5 feet.
Work Environment Work near moving mechanical parts; exposed to herbal aromas, dust, airborne particles, potentially allergens or irritants. Works in all areas of manufacturing facilities with direct exposure to ingredients and packaging. Occasionally work in high, precarious places or outside weather conditions; exposure to fumes, cold, heat. Requires travel to other facilities. Noise typically moderately loud; hearing protection may be required in some areas.
