Commercial Construction Project Engineer (PE) role at HITT Contracting Inc. Join our award-winning HITT Futures Program as a commercial construction project engineer (PE). This on-site, one-year development program is designed for recent graduates, Veterans, and others passionate about advancing the business of construction. The program provides immersive training topics, mentorship, hands-on learning, and a fast track to promotion as an assistant-level project manager or superintendent. Commit to being fully onsite for the 12-month training program to shadow, learn, and gain hands-on experience with day-to-day operations on your assigned project(s). Demonstrate understanding of training topics throughout each phase of the first year; participate in performance reviews to ensure knowledge retention and development goals on a 4-month cadence. Follow all directions and coaching from your Futures Program Sponsor (a tenured superintendent or above). Showcase required professional skills, including: Clear, concise, and professional communication (written and verbal). Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and priorities. Integrity aligned with The HITT Way and core values; continuous self-improvement and initiative. Adaptability within construction technology, design, means, and methods; collaboration across diverse teams including clients, subcontractors, and vendors. Punctuality, engagement, and respectful conduct. Upon completion of the 12-month program, gain exposure to promote to an assistant superintendent or assistant project manager, and develop job-specific and technical skills, including, but not limited to: Set up and maintain jobsite offices and records (project directory, construction documents, submittal logs, RFI logs, etc.). Update as-built drawings as directed and interpret basic coordination drawings. Direct installation of site protections and ensure safety measures prior to demolition. Assist in construction tasks and participate in site inspections to ensure quality and workmanship. Contribute to project scheduling updates and basic material take-offs; place supplier orders and receive deliveries. Assist the superintendent with survey/layout instruments and interpretation of basic tests/reports (air balance, soils, concrete). Lead subcontractor foremen’s meetings when directed; understand cost implications of construction tasks at various stages. Support Project Managers with budgeting and client management as needed. Assist in implementing HITT’s Corporate Safety Program, including weekly safety meetings, toolbox talks, and required safety reports when directed. Qualifications

High school diploma required. Military experience or a four-year degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or Business preferred. Previous experience on commercial job sites preferred. Passion for the construction industry and on-site work. Ability to learn sector- and project-specific software systems (e.g., Microsoft Office 365, ProCore, Adobe Suite, BlueBeam, JD Edwards). Ability to walk/stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. Salary: In accordance with NYCHRL and Local Law 32, the base salary range for this position is $85,000.00 - $90,000.00. Compensation in other cities and states may vary.
