Position Summary Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is excited to add a Part Time Accounting Technician to the team! This position will work directly with our Park Operations Division performing general accounting functions. This includes but is not limited to completing requisitions for received project quotes, P‑card reconciliations, purchase orders, and invoice tracking. In addition, this position will maintain communication with Park Operations supervisors and managers regarding deposit reconciliations. The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail and have experience in accounts receivable and accounts payable roles. This part‑time position will work approximately 19 hours per week, which will include varying days and hours between 8:00 am‑5:00 pm. Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of general accounting policies and procedures

Experience utilizing Advantage accounting software

Essential Functions

Plan and implement daily operational tasks for assigned specialized accounting function such as grants administration; also perform general accounting and fiscal work for other division accounting functions.

Establish effective working relationships with internal and external parties and provide information and assistance regarding program policies and procedures.

Receive, process financial documents for assigned accounting functions; review documents; ensure accuracy; complete with appropriate information such as account codes and assigning vendor numbers.

Enter information into automated financial information systems and submit for processing.

Prepare and process invoices/bills for County services, receipts for incoming payments and revenues; ensure accuracy, completeness, and appropriate coding.

Accept and post payments for assigned programs/functions, and prepare receipts.

Monitor accounting activities and compare with established budgets and/or projections.

Prepare reports of accounting activities such as grant reporting summaries, reports of budget deviations, revenue and sales reports, revenues and expenditures reports.

Establish and maintain accounting information in the automated financial information systems; post information and perform data entry for accounting transactions; maintain automated files and databases; process data to produce accounting documents and retrieve data for reports and/or records.

Reconcile accounting transactions and documentation, bank statements and the general ledger for assigned accounts and/or accounting functions.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of two (2) years of accounting or administrative work for an assigned area.

Education Associate’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted: Yes May require a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License and County Driving Privileges.

Computer Skills Proficient in various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.

Knowledge
