Goal and Focus The goal of the residency is to provide in-depth preparation for missionaries/church planters in the context of a local church to further equip them for the task of making disciples and planting healthy churches. The focus on the residency is building healthy ecclesiology while providing practical experience in evangelism and teaching. FBC Canyon prioritizes church-based missions believing that Jesus Christ promised to build his church and through his church to make disciples. We will examine how to establish healthy churches in mission context. Expectations 25 to 29 hours of work per week (on average) The resident will be required to participate in the life of the church. The resident will not enter the mission field or plant a church without the affirmation of the elders. Responsibilities Engage West Texas A&M students and internationals with the gospel in the Canyon/Amarillo area. (15-25%) Lead at least one Bible study with university students, young adults, and/or internationals. (10-15%) Meet with university students, young adults, internationals for one-on-one discipleship. (10-15%) Participate in book studies/trainings/discussions with FBC Canyon elders and staff. (15-20%) Serve in the context of FBC Canyon. (10-15%) Prepare for your missionary work (IMB process, fund-raising, language learning). (10-15%) Each of these responsibilities mimic responsibilities that a missionary/church planter will participate in as they begin their ministry overseas or begin the work of church planting. Compensation Housing (2 bedroom furnished house) including utilities and internet. $2000 per month stipend No Insurance or Retirement Benefits Duration 1 to 3 years This residency is designed for a person or family who desires to enter the mission field or plant a church in the next few years.
