Position Overview: We are currently seeking a Traveling Assistant Project Manager to join our Phoenix, AZ team. The Assistant Project Manager will participate in the planning, directing, and coordinating of high-voltage electric transmission, substation, and distribution construction and maintenance projects throughout the country. This role involves participating in the conceptual development of these projects and overseeing their organization, scheduling, budgeting, staffing, subcontractors, safety, quality, and implementation.
Location : Based out of Phoenix, AZ; travel to project locations throughout AZ, NM, and West TX as needed.
What You’ll Do Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning And Management
Responsible for the lifecycle of a project
Receive work authorization from customer and download IFC job packets
Communicate with field operations team for field review/preparation
Receive field communications on resources required/needed
Create project schedule with field operations and subcontractors
Assist with budget projections for labor, material, equipment, and subcontractors
Submit locates and additional dependencies
Notify customers of clear dependencies, outage information, and schedule dates
Support field execution and monitor progress
Complete change orders and update clients on rescheduling/issues
Review and verify completed job packets; submit to quality control
Support the PM in developing and managing the Schedule of Values (SOV), updating based on production, and preparing/billing packages
Develop baseline schedules and update as needed
Contract Administration
Assist in preparing, reviewing, and documenting revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with suppliers and subcontractors
Documentation And Reporting
Maintain electronic and printed files per document control practices
Generate daily, weekly, and monthly projections and progress reports for construction activities
Prepare and update project documentation, including submittals and RFIs
Manage and report project costs against the forecasted budget and communicate findings to leadership
Stakeholder Communication And Issue Resolution
Communicate with supervisory personnel, subcontractors, or engineers to resolve matters related to work procedures, complaints, or construction problems
Explain plans and contract terms to staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner or developer
Material And Quality Management
Execute corrective actions to address delays, adverse weather, or emergencies
