Overview
Position Overview: The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing engineering and testing projects that support sustainable infrastructure and environmental solutions. This role ensures that all project activities are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with client and regulatory expectations. The Project Manager works closely with technical staff, field personnel, and clients to deliver high-quality results, manage budgets, and support operational excellence across geotechnical, environmental, and construction materials testing projects. Responsibilities
Lead and manage projects from proposal through completion, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives are met. Develop project estimates, proposals, and scopes of work in collaboration with technical and business development teams. Coordinate and assign resources, including field technicians and support staff, to ensure project needs are met efficiently. Communicate with dispatching and/or field supervisors, advising of current job status and locations as required. Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients to manage expectations, address issues, and ensure satisfaction. Promote positive contractor relations by dealing professionally and fairly with all subcontractors and vendors, instilling this philosophy in the project team at all times. Track project financial performance, including cost control, revenue forecasting, and profitability analysis. Provide technical oversight and ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., ASTM, ACI, ICC), specifications, and industry best practices. Read/understand project plans and specifications. Perform or supervise field inspections, construction materials testing, and special inspections when needed. Review and approve timesheets, reports, and client documentation; ensure timely submission of project deliverables. Ensure special inspections/threshold forms are submitted to the client in a timely manner. Approve invoices prior to billing to clients. Support employee development through training, mentorship, and performance feedback; participate in hiring and onboarding. Ensure all activities adhere to company safety protocols and regulatory requirements. Assist with identifying add-on or follow-on work opportunities through client engagement and field visibility. Prepare reports and technical documents for internal and external stakeholders. Participate in cross-functional collaboration with engineering, laboratory, safety, and operational teams. Attend on-site and branch meetings, when required. Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline; OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 3+ years of experience, preferably in the AEC industry. Certifications in relevant inspection or testing areas preferred (e.g., ACI, CTQP ICC, ATTI, Nuclear Safety). Strong knowledge of construction materials testing standards (ASTM, AASHTO, etc.) and ability to interpret technical specifications. Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry-specific platforms (e.g., project management, data reporting systems). Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills. Willingness to travel to job sites and work in diverse environmental conditions. Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and interface with clients and regulatory bodies effectively. Travel Requirements
This position requires occasional travel, approximately 10% to 20% of the time, to support business objectives and client engagements. Travel may be scheduled or on short notice, depending on project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work. Physical Demands & Work Environment
Hybrid work environment, with flexibility to work from both a professional office and work site setting. On-Site Office Requirements: work at a desk for extended periods using a computer and standard office equipment; regular in-person communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders; physical demands may include long periods of sitting, occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of materials up to 15 pounds. Field Environment: work at outdoor sites including wetlands, forests, grasslands, construction zones, and undeveloped land; travel on foot across uneven terrain; exposure to varying weather conditions; possible presence of insects, animals, or hazards. Physical Requirements: ability to lift and carry 35–75 lbs. of equipment or samples, stand, walk, drive, and operate lab and field equipment for extended periods; ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel, climb, balance; ability to communicate effectively; sensory requirements for vision and safety purposes.
