Georgia‑Pacific’s OSB plant in Gladys, VA offers an opportunity for a Mechanic / Maintenance Millwright. Maintenance mechanics must be willing to work any shift, including but not limited to 12‑hour rotating shift or day shift, and may include weekends, holidays, and overtime.

About the Facility Georgia‑Pacific located in Gladys, Virginia manufactures Oriented Strand Board (OSB), a popular wood product used in residential construction. The facility is hot, humid, cold, and noisy. Employees strive for safety excellence while maintaining an injury‑free workplace.

What You Will Do

Perform mechanical inspections, repair, and maintenance on all machinery and equipment.

Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, power transmission, and steam systems.

Use computer systems to input work orders, identify parts, and maintain records such as labor hours and preventive maintenance findings.

Replace defective parts or repair/reproduce parts using welding, drill press, surface grinder, and other machine‑shop equipment.

Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as scheduled or assigned.

Assist with creating job plans for future reference on repair jobs.

Share knowledge through training and technical assistance to other team members.

Perform other related duties and complete projects as assigned.

Adhere to and promote all safety policies, including wearing necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Work at heights exceeding 80 ft using man lifts and confined spaces.

Perform tasks that may require lifting up to 50 lbs, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for at least 12 hours a day.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

Experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment.

Two (2) or more years of experience in the industrial maintenance field or completion of a mechanical trade school, apprenticeship, or comparable program.

Experience troubleshooting conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and pumps.

Experience with fabrication and welding.

High school diploma or GED.

What Will Put You Ahead

Experience with precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings, and pumps, and lubrication.

Experience with machine tool and die.

Experience reading blueprints and making precision measurements.

Experience using a computer for record‑keeping and documentation.
